Students at East Washington Elementary are experiencing a "discipline-based" art education. Art history is presented as the foundational element of understanding why and how art is created. Students experience the history of art through various written and visual media. We will use text books, iPads, and computers to explore the world of art. Assessment will involve students and myself conducting verbal and written critiques of projects based on their studies. This also gives students opportunities to take on the roles of art critics and aestheticians, who make theories about the nature of art.
